Save Current Frame in Final Cut Pro X 10.0.6

On November 6, 2012 by Rico

With previous FCPX versions, to save the current frame you just click on ‘Share’, then ‘Save Current Frame’. With the 10.0.6 update, Apple changed quite a bit of the UI, making some things harder to find.

One of these are the save current frame. What used to be under sharing was gone, not to forget the whole sharing window!

Instead of the sharing window being in the  top toolbar, it’s listed in the application itself, next to the inspection icon. Okay, so you open it and still no save current frame.

If your like me, you’re about to pull your hair out and curse Apple along with wanting to throw your mac out the window. No? Guess it’s just me…

Anyway, What you need to do is click ‘Add destination…’, that takes you to preferences and then you have the ability to add new destinations, one is save current frame.  Add that,  choose the default file export, and your set.

One thing to note is that you can no longer change file export each time, you have to go into preferences and change it. Can be a pain and not a pain, all depends.

But that’s how you get ‘Save current frame’ back in Final Cut Pro 10.0.6. Hope this was helpful ^_^

Couldn’t find help on this topic, till I found your page. This latest version keeps throwing me off.
Standard procedures before…..vanish…….even the FCP help…..was no help.
Thanks for the pointers……I’m hopeful, I’ll like 10.0.6 better, once I learn all the surprises.

  • Like the others. Completely thrown by the upgrade to 10.0.06. Cannot think how you are meant to work it out. Your help hugely appreciated. Keep up the great work.
